Last week, I went to London for the first time to experience Wimbledon. Besides getting front row seats to Venus Williams, the highlight of my trip was stumbling upon a Shu Uemura counter in Selfridges. Like many fans, my heart was broken in 2010 when all of their Lash Bars closed down and the only way to purchase their products was online. I'm a fan of everything from their cleansing oil to the lashes, but I love the eyelash curler most of all. Needless to say, I picked up 3 curlers to last me the next decade.
When you hear Shu Uemura, the curler is the first thing that comes to mind. Not all curlers are created equal. There is nothing worse than a curler that crimps your lashes at a funny angle or straight up ripping them out. The Shu Uemura is comfortable and works on many different eye shapes. The design of the curler bends lashes at a gradual angle that looks natural and really opens up the eye. Before using an eyelash curler, I like to blast it for 3 seconds with a hair dryer (any longer will burn your eyeballs). I start from the base, hold for 2 seconds, and make my way to the tip of the lashes. Top them off with a coat of mascara and you're ready to go!
