Colourpop to the rescue!

Colourpop came through with their Lite Stix + Blush Stix collection just in time! Summer make up means fast application. Blink and the season is over. We’ve got beaches to catch! We don’t want to spend a single extra minute worrying about perfect blending when their are weekend carnivals with our names all over them. What caught my eye, was the fact that this new Colourpop release included colors that looked like some of my favorite Fenty Beauty Shimmer Stix shades! I found Colourpop matches for almost all of the Fenty Shimmer Stix. The only one left out was Blondie. We can’t deny, Fenty has a way with gold that other brands haven’t yet grasped; Long Live Trophy Wife!! Here are the matches I found!

It gives you an even better base to work with and a natural matte finish. The next step in your makeup up routine would normally be coverage in the form of either concealer or foundation. Beauty vlogger, Jackie Aina, introduced oily skin makeup wearers to the technique of setting their primers with a thin layer of translucent powder before they go in with their coverage products. She swears that this step keeps the oils in her skin at bay making her foundation last longer. In this video, amid many more, she shows viewers how setting their primer with powder can prevent makeup from separating and creasing around smile lines and the cupid's bow. Being that I do not have oily skin, I was always kind of jealous that I couldn't test out this hack to see if it really was as  good as Jackie says. 

I may not have oily skin but I do want my makeup to last as long as possible. I'm not dirtying my makeup brushes for a look that will has only 2 hours. No, Ma'am. Not I. If we are being totally honest here, many primers don't add longevity to our looks because it isn't in their job description. Primers are there to help our makeup apply better so regardless of your skin's condition, you can slay any look. 

Jackie Aina helped out oily skin girls. And I, Danyelle, will help out those with normal to dryish skin. Like me! Instead of setting your primer with a powder, set it with a setting spray. This is the De-Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray by Urban Decay. I can find a use for any product. Even if it isn't formulated for my skin type. The primer smoothed over any pores and fine lines I have. It doesn't, however, have the kind of long wearing power you'll need for the heat, sweating, and humidity of the summer. Setting it with the De Slick spray let me keep a smooth complexion and have an almost tacky layer to help my coverage products cling to my face to make it last. After I finished my makeup, I finish it off with another spritz of the De Slick spray and I am ready for what ever the summer has in store for me.

Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops in Halo is one of the most whimsical highlighters I’ve ever come across. It glides on super smooth and sheer but the multi dimensional glow is real. One drop of this mermaid dream in a bottle and you’re set, but you can customize the intensity of your desired beam from subtle to blinding by adding a few more drops.

This is what ONE drop can do!!! 

This highlighter doesn’t necessarily have the dewiest feel. It’s a silky, light liquid formula that absorbs into your skin and feels… well… LIKE SKIN. It doesn’t feel like you have product just laying on top of your skin, which I'm sure none of us want. You can wear this without anything on your face and itmakes you look like you naturally gleam holographic. I see this actually working well with oily skin gals because it dries beautiful without any greasiness. It sets light and matte while still keeping its glow. This product worked really well with my sensitive skin and didn’t negatively affect it at all, which is a plus for me.

What makes this highlighter the supreme? IT ACTUALLY LASTS ALL DAY!!! you’re angles will beam from sunrise to sunset and beyond. It also is free of chemicals like parabens as well as free of fragrances, talc, gluten and it is Vegan!! So all of you animal lovers can get in on this glow!!!

The dropper gives the perfect control of distribution so that no product is wasted.

Being that very little goes a VERY LONG WAY, this little 0.5oz bottle will last a VERY LONG TIME. It is pretty small for the hefty price of $42 (sold at CoverFx.com, as well as Sephora stores & Sephora.com) but as I always say, treat yourself if you can! You are deserving of it!! 

Glow Tips:

-For the babes with dry skin, try adding a drop of this to Glossier Balm Dot Com and add to cheek bones, along the bridge of your nose and eyelids. GLOW Baby, GLOW!

-There are no rules, you can glow as bright as you want. Hell, If you want to be a full on sea queen, add a couple of drops into your foundation (Have fun with it)

-Listen and Lip Sync to “Part of your world” and “Under the Sea” as you apply your highlight… release your inner mermaid!!!
